Our Story

2 Orange and White Kittens rescued and rehabilitated

Vision

We envision a future where homeless cats have access to food, safety, medical care, and a path to a forever home. As our partnerships grow, our goal is to expand our impact, engage community supporters, and ultimately build a dedicated foster and rehabilitation center. Through long-term collaboration and compassionate action, we strive to strengthen public safety while creating more loving connections between felines and families.

Mission

Our mission is to improve the lives of homeless and at-risk felines by providing consistent feeding, urgent rescue, compassionate rehabilitation, and safe relocation or adoption. We work to give every cat the chance to live a healthy, secure, and loving life.

Our work centers around three essential services that give every cat a chance at a better life: daily feeding, compassionate rescue and rehabilitation, and safe relocation into supportive homes or sanctuaries.

How it all started...

Our journey began in the most unexpected way — with one homeless cat looking for help. One evening, the founders noticed a lone feline sitting quietly on the hood of a car. Moved by its vulnerability, they bought a small bag of cat food and went back to feed it. To their surprise, more than thirty hungry cats emerged from the shadows that night.

Shortly after, they met Bryan, who was caring for several large colonies and struggling to find enough food for them. As they fed and rescued cats together, they connected with more people who shared the same compassion and drive to help. The need was far greater than they imagined—and growing.

Realizing that so many cats required food, medical attention, safety, and a path to a loving home, the founders knew their efforts had to expand. In 2018, they established a nonprofit foundation dedicated to feeding, rescuing, rehabilitating, and placing homeless felines into forever families.

From a single cat to an entire network of care, the foundation has grown into a lifeline for hundreds of cats each year. Today, we serve communities throughout Florida and partner with adoption agencies in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island—working every day to give each feline the chance to live a healthy, secure, and loving life.

The Story of Oreo

He was injured in a fight with other cats and needed a drain tube and lots of time to heal from a nasty infection on his leg. After several months (and complaints) he finally healed and was released back to his colony where he gets regular flea medication and food.

Feeding Homeless Felines Foundation feeds approximately 300 cats per night in over 15 locations across Miami Dade County. We have the permission of both public and private partners that allow us to feed cats that have been abandoned or born outside. Due to their lack of socialization, we participate in the humane Trap Neuter Vaccinate and Release (TNVR) program through Miami Dade County Animal Services where cats are trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned where dedicated feeders provide food every single night, 365 days per year. When the cats become sick or need medical care, medication is provided and if necessary the cats are trapped again (which is no small feat considering it is difficult to get a cat that has already been trapped) and medical care at a licensed veterinarian is provided.

We go through dozens of cases of food per week and use a combination of donations, coupons, and rewards programs from all major retailers and online retailers to get food and medical supplies at the best possible prices. All friendly cats that are abandoned or born outside including kittens are given a chance to enter our adoption program and usually do not live their lives in colonies outside.

The colonies have been chosen mainly as public locations that exhibited an extreme need. Other “legacy” colonies had former Cat Network members that have passed away or were unable to continue to feed every night and through our dedicated network of volunteers these cats get fed every single night even in the rain, tropical storms, and even Hurricane Irma (don’t try that at home, kids).

What we do?

Rehabilitate

In addition to feeding colony cats, Feeding Homeless Felines Foundation also provides medical care for these cats. Each case presents separate challenges and as the cost of veterinary care has increased exponentially in recent years, we are committed to providing the best care possible for all our cases. Over the course of the existence of the foundation, we have had many touching and heart-warming stories that we would like to share with you that have had happy outcomes. Despite the difficult circumstances, each of these cats persevered and why these cases are so rewarding.

What we do?

Relocate

For cats who cannot safely remain where they are found, we provide compassionate relocation to ensure long-term safety, stability, and quality of life. After receiving medical care and rehabilitation, each cat is carefully evaluated to determine the most appropriate placement based on health, temperament, and overall wellbeing.

We work closely with trusted adoption partners as well as reputable sanctuaries to secure safe, supportive environments for every feline in our care. This may include relocating cats to partner agencies that specialize in matching them with loving forever families, or placing them in a protected sanctuary when adoption or colony return is not suitable.

Our goal is to ensure that every cat—regardless of their background or challenges—has access to a secure environment, compassionate care, and the opportunity to thrive. Through thoughtful evaluation and responsible partnerships, our relocation process prioritizes what is best for each individual feline and supports their long-term welfare.
